Nacogdoches will see several building projects in the coming months thanks to the recent approval of one of Stephen F. Austin State University's largest building initiatives to date. SFA has $125 million in plans, including a new basketball performance facility, dining hall, residence hall, welcome center and expansion of the College of Fine Arts.

Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar spoke at the NEDCO Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, October 23rd. NEDCO welcomed a record of 140 attendees to the luncheon at The Fredonia Hotel. Comptroller Hegar spoke about the importance of Economic Development in rural counties, including Nacogdoches County. 

NEDCO President Larissa Philpot presented a report of the 2017-18 year. Vice Chairman Robert Flores spoke on the importance of joining NEDCO, and Treasurer Ron Collins gave the financial report.

The 2018 Entrepreneurship Program kicked off on Thursday, September 20th. In attendance were 16 future entrepreneurs, NEDCO Staff, SBDC Director Larry Cain, Mayor Shelley Brophy, and City Councilman Garth Hinze. The class shared their business ideas, and heard from two successful entrepreneurs in the Nacogdoches Community; Matt Turner with Turner Fabrication, and Teresa Darby of Glass Castles. The group was very engaged and eager to ask questions. The second class will be Thursday, October 4th.
