Opportunity Zones

After the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, Governor Greg Abbott designated Nacogdoches, TX as an "Opportunity Zone."
Opportunity Zones are low income census tracts, and are only eligible for designation as Opportunity Zones by the Governor. The program allows a temporary deferral or permanent exclusion of capital gains tax based upon the amount of time those capital gains remain reinvested in an Opportunity Fund.
