Nacogdoches, Texas - April 12, 2017
The Nacogdoches EDC Board of Directors announced today that NEDCO will contribute $150,000 to the Fredonia Hotel Convention Center remodel project. These funds will focus on support for the extensive renovaton of the Convention Center, which is the final project of the Fredonia Hotel renovations made by Richard and Barbara DeWitt.
EDC Chairman Jimmy Mize said, "NEDCO is extremely excited about the economic stimulus that the opening of the hotel will provide to the Nacogdoches Community and specifically downton. In our opinion, we couldn't ask for a better owner/operator of the facility. It is an honor to be able to make this contribution on behalf of the membership of the Nacogdoches Economic Development corporation. The decision to participate was unanimous."
Following foreclosure in November 2013, the Fredonia Hotel was purchased in September 2015 by local community businessman and restaurant owner, Richard DeWitt. The hotel, built in the 1950's by local residents, has been undergoing massive renovations for the last 17 months to update the mid-century modern design. The target date to reopen is June 2017.
