Natural Resources
Renewable Energy – Southern Power Company owns and operates the Nacogdoches Generating Plant, the largest wood-fueled biomass power generation facility in the U.S. The 100 MW power plant became operational in June 2012 and has a 20-year power purchase agreement with the City of Austin.
Natural Gas – Nacogdoches County is located in East Texas in the midst of the Haynesville Shale.
Geography
Regional Operating Offices & Headquarters – Nacogdoches County, an logical site for regional operating offices for oil and gas companies, is located midway between Shreveport and Houston on US-59. With an urban population of 33,000 (65,000 in the county), it is the only city/town between Shreveport and Nacogdoches with a population greater than 10,000.
